Commenting on a Project

When you work with a project you can create comments to record details about the project.

Adding Comments

  1. Open a project in Project Edit mode (see Editing a Project).

  2. Right-click in the map viewport. In the context menu, select Create Comment Thread.

  3. Select whether to tie the comment to a point, rectangle, or polygon.

    Your cursor changes to crosshairs .

  4. Select a point, or draw a rectangle or polygon where you want to leave a comment. The Create Comment Thread dialog opens.

  5. In the fields, enter a title for the thread and an initial comment. Select a feature class from the drop-down list.

  6. Select Save.

Managing Comments

To view comment threads, expand the Comments section in the Project Edit pane. From here, you can do any of the following.

You can filter all the comments associated with a project to find them more easily.

  • To filter by title, enter a keyword in the Filters box.

  • To select additional filters, select More. The Filters drop-down opens. Use the drop-down lists to filter by Layer, Feature (feature class), or Status (thread status).

Filtering Project Comments

You can export all of the comments associated with a project as a PDF or a shapefile.

  1. In the Project Edit pane, select the Actions button.

  2. Select Export Comments to PDF or Export Comments to Shapefile.

Export Project Comments

You can view existing comments and add comments to an existing thread.

  1. Next to any comment, select the Action Menu , then select Add/View Comments. The Add Comment dialog opens.

  2. Enter new comments in the comment box, then select Submit.

  • If a comment is associated with a location, select it to center the viewport on that location at zoom level 17. Any layers that were visible when the comment was created are displayed in the viewport with the associated vector.

If you have the Source Packager QC account configuration, you can close a comment thread.

  • Next to any comment, select the Action Menu , then select Close Comment Thread.
