Ordering Archive Imagery

You can order a single image from the Carousel, Advanced Search, or the Need It dialog. You can order triangulated stereo imagery from the Carousel or Advanced Search. You can choose to order a full strip, or clip the image to your area of interest (AOI).

  1. Do one of the following, depending on the part of the interface you are using:

    1. On the header bar, select My Imagery > Advanced Search. The Advanced Search pane opens.

    2. In the viewport, select the Draw Polygon icon , then define an area of Area of Interest (AOI) (see Defining an Area of Interest). The Advanced Search viewport zooms to the area you defined.

      When creating an archive order, your AOI cannot be smaller than 5km2. Smaller AOIs can be downloaded from the online catalog (but not from the archive catalog) as Ortho Natural Color using WCS or WMS.

    3. Select the Catalog Filter icon , then select the type of imagery you want to order (e.g., archive, stereo archive).

    4. Next to the image you want to order, select the Image Menu, then select Add Image to Cart. The Add Image to Cart dialog opens.

    1. Zoom to level 13 or higher.
    2. In the Carousel toolbar, select the Catalog Filter icon , then select the type of imagery you want to order (e.g., archive, stereo archive).

    3. Hover over a thumbnail image to show the Image Menu, then select Add Image to Cart. The Add Image to Cart dialog opens.

    Need It Dialog

    1. Zoom to level 13 or higher.
    2. On the header bar, select My Imagery > Need It. The Need It dialog opens.
    3. (Optional) Use the filters to refine the image results by Currency Filter, Max Cloud Cover Filter, or Color Requirement Filter.
    4. Use the left and right scroll arrows to view each image.
    5. When you find an image you want to use, select Order Displayed Image. The Add Image to Cart dialog opens.

  2. In the Order Name field, enter a name for the order.

  3. In the Deliver To drop-down list, select where you want to have the image delivered: the Library or the Online Carousel.

    Basic images cannot be hosted on the system. If you selected a Basic image, it will be delivered your library after you submit the order. If you selected an orthorectified image, it is added to the Carousel as part of the online catalog. The images are marked "Private" in the Carousel, and are accessible only to other users with the same account access as you.

    If you select delivery to the Carousel, product types are limited to orthorectified images.

    Stereo images cannot be added to the Carousel. If you select a Stereo image, it will be delivered to your library.

  4. In the End Use drop-down list, select an option.

  5. In the Product Type drop-down list, select an option. This list is filtered by the option you selected in the Deliver To drop-down list.

    Available product types are determined by your account type, the sensor and other image attributes (e.g., WorldView 1 images are only panchromatic) and whether or not the product type can be delivered online.

    Depending on the sensor, the following product types are available as full image strips, and may also be clipped to the AOI:

    • Basic All Bands (1B) (cannot be clipped to the AOI)
    • Ortho All MS Bands
    • Ortho Color Infrared
    • Ortho Natural Color
    • Ortho Natural Color
    • Ortho Panchromatic
    • Ortho Ready 8-Bands
    • Ortho Ready Panchromatic
    • Basic Stereo All Bands
    • SWIR Ortho and Basic

    For users with account access to the Ortho Natural Color product type, the following conditions apply:

    • Minimum sun elevation is greater than 15 degrees.
    • A process runs on the imagery to mitigate the effects of clouds or haze.

    Sometimes a product type is not available for a particular image for your account. For example, this may occur if the off-nadir angle is too high to produce an ortho image, or if your account does not allow you to order a basic image (e.g., often over the United States).

  6. In the Image File Format drop-down list, select the file format you want to use.

    Only GeoTiff file formats can be hosted on the system. NITF formats will be delivered to your library after your archive order is complete.

  7. In the Compression drop-down list, select the archive format that should be used when packaging products for delivery to your library. For example, if you select the Zip compression format, the imagery product is delivered to your library in a ZIP archive.

  8. In the Clip Feature to AOI drop-down list, select whether you want to order the full image strip or clip the image to your area of interest (AOI). The default setting is Yes, Clip to AOI.

    When creating an archive order, your AOI cannot be smaller than 5km2. Smaller AOIs can be downloaded from the online catalog (but not from the archive catalog) as Ortho Natural Color using WCS or WMS.

  9. (Optional) If your image is over a Custom Digital Elevation Model (DEM), in the DEM drop-down list, select the DEM to use in the orthorectification process. Otherwise, Maxar's official DEM will be used. DEMs are only applicable to ortho product types.

  10. Select Add to Cart. A confirmation dialog opens.
  11. Select Close.
