Working with Selected Images

On the Selected tab of the Advanced Search pane, you can use your selected images to generate a mashup or export a shapefile.

Advanced Search Selected Tab

Creating a Mashup

You can use Advanced Search to create mashups with an area of interest (AOI) of up to 10,000km2.

  1. In the Advanced Search pane, select the images you want to use for the mashup and optionally rearrange them in the pane. On the Selected tab, in the With Selected drop-down menu, select Create Mashup.

The Create Mashup dialog opens. The mashup samples the best GSD of the selected images.

    New Mashup Dialog

  2. In the File Name field, enter a name for the file.

Do not use special characters in file names. Special characters can prevent you from downloading files from your library, or may cause errors when downloading imagery. Maxar replaces special characters with underscores.

  3. Select additional options for your image's Format, Compression, and Projection.

    Mashups are always full resolution.

  4. (Optional) If you want to receive email notifications with updates about the status of the library job, select the checkbox.

This option is not available if you have not provided an email address in your user profile.

  5. Select Add to Library.

A mashup created with only online images may be available in minutes or hours. However, mashups that include archive imagery (Advanced Search only) may take up to several days to fulfill and appear in your library.

Exporting a Shapefile

  1. In the Advanced Search pane, define an area of interest (AOI). See Generating Search Results.

  2. On the Results tab, select the images you want to save.

  3. On the Selected tab, in the With Selected drop-down menu, select Export Shapefile. The shapefile downloads.

More Information

  • If you want to remove images from the Selected tab, in the With Selected drop-down menu, select Remove.

  • Select the Image Menu next to any image to perform additional tasks, such as viewing an image's metadata. See Using the Image Menu.

  • Some users can include archive images when ordering a mashup from Advanced Search. See Adding Imagery to the Library.

  • If the image you are downloading includes an intersecting Vivid Mosaic, you will see a warning. Vivid Mosaics are read-only, and are labeled in the Carousel and identified in the image metadata. You will need to select a different image for download. If you have a mission requirement for a Vivid Mosaic, please contact ngaegdadmin@nga.mil.
